Fairweather Fans...

For all you sports fans, you know who they are. For everyone else, a fairweather fan is a person who jumps on the bandwagon when a sports team is doing well, but doesn't like the sports team when they are doing bad. Yes, it is happening again. The New Orleans Saints are 12-0 along with the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL and fairweather fans are back at it.

I cannot stand fairweather fans and I have a few friends that are all about it. I stick with my hometown teams; Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins. What makes me mad is the people who haven't stuck with one team. Have you seen how many Celtics fans there have been the past three seasons, I mean since the Celtics have been good everybody wants to be a fan. I haven't seen this much support for the Celtics since the eighties and yeah it's great, but where were all of you in the late nineties? I have been the true fan who will support the team no matter how bad they are.

I have been true to my sport teams my whole life. Even when I played soccer, i stuck with the same club team. Whether or not we won the state cup never held me back and we eventually won, three times actually. I have seen players switch teams and never win a State Cup final. It just goes to show why we have fairweather fans. They can't stand teams that lose and just go with the teams that look better. Those of you loyal to your teams, Boston or not, thank you.

"The Men Who Stare At Goats" Film Review

The story progresses once a journalist by the name of Bob Wilton (Ewan McGregor) finds his outbreaking story through the encounter of Lyn Cassidy (George Clooney). Lyn claimed to be part of a US Military Unit who train their soldiers to use psychic powers in order to defeat their enemies. The illogical story becomes real for Bob Wilton once he becomes disconnected from the journalism and dragged into the real-life situation.
Agree with me or not, "The Men Who Stare at Goats" might be one of the most dissapointing films of 2009. Sure, the movie has it's fair share of laughs but it's nothing we didn't see in the trailer. Although the comedy is entertaining and the story is one that you don't see everyday, the two don't tie together as well as you would think.

I don't think the cast is to blame for this film, however, because they did their part in delivering the comedy to the viewers. The screenwriting for the movie could have been more tight in connecting the dragging story with the comedy.

Stephen King "On Writing"

Let me start out by saying Stephen King is an unbelievable guy. The amount of writing he does is unbelievable and his work ethic has led him to being a tremendous book seller. He makes a great point that if you want to be a great writer you have to read as much as you can. This message goes beyond writing and pertains to any profession; you need to study what you want to do in order to become the best at what you do. Practice, even though according to Stephen King it will not make you perfect. I agree with that statement because it comes to the simple statement everybody makes mistakes and we learn from our mistakes which is good practice.
Stephen King's "what if" philosophy is intrigues me. I have an open and creative mind and think of what if questions all the time. I didn't ever think about puting it into writing, however. These do become the most interesting situations because it makes you think.
In all, Stephen King's book "On Writing" has a ton of great tips about writing and I am going to take them into consideration because he is one of the most successful writers in my eyes.

Do All MJ's Make Mistakes?

As many of us know, Michael Jordan is going to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA on September 11th. However, Michael Jordan has surprised everyone and chose David Thompson to open the hall's doors for his display. David Thompson was a NBA player who came from the college North Carolina State and was said to be one of the most inspirational players for Michael Jordan according to his autobiography.

Michael, Michael, Michael...

Let me guess, Dean Smith? Phil Jackson? One of your teamates? Rival, Charles Barkley? Nope, David Thompson. Wow, I can't believe that Michael Jordan has chosen David Thompson to induct him, what is he thinking? I mean sure you claimed him to be your idol when you were growing up, but I didn't think he was that important.

I can only imagine what Phil Jackson is thinking. I mean the guy lead him to the 6 NBA championship rings he has. You would figure that Phil Jackson maybe had SOMETHING to do with that. I tell you what, if I was Phil Jackson I would send him a text saying "Way to make me look bad". Like I said, I would understand if Dean Smith was chosen and so wouldn't Phil Jackson.

All in all though, who am I to say is important to Michael Jordan? I'm sure Jordan thought about this decision thoroughly and decided without David Thompson he wouldn't be the legend he is now. Actually, what if he didn't think this through? What if he knew within a few minutes who he was going to choose?! Okay, i'm back to being pissed off again...

Targets by Lisa Rae Winant

A nice and calm fall day lies ahead in New Hampshire as the old, cranky and non-caring woman drags another cigarette. Approaching her is a young energetic boy in a black suit who looks to be a magician holding a puppet rabbit in one hand while a magic wand in another.

"Hello ma'am, may I show you a magic trick? I'm more than positive you will enjoy it!"

The old lady gives him a glance, takes another drag of her butt and turns the other way.

The boy quickly gets in front of her again. "Ma'am, please give me a chance! I have been designing a trick that will change the revolution of magic".

The old lady finishes her drag and blows the smoke into the face of the magician with no emotion.

"Ma'am, I beg you for your patience. I just need to borrow this hat-" The boy reaches for the lady's hat without permission and has his hand quickly smacked down. She looks at the boy flat-faced and still doesn't say a word. The child is shocked by the strength the lady has for her age.

The old lady suddenly takes off her glasses and tucks them in the v-neck of her collared shirt. She grabs the child's puppet rabbit, "Face over there!" the lady murmurs as she points in the other direction.

The boy turns around as the old lady takes the last drag of her cigarette. Before exhaling she takes off her hat, stuffs the rabbit inside and exhales into the hat before putting it back upon her head. "Turn around" She says.

The boy turns around noticing she does not have the rabbit in her hand. "Where's my rabbit?"

The old lady takes off her hat with smoke coming out and pulls the rabbit from inside. "Cool magic trick ya little shit."
